Sacramento Artist Mary Carboni has been painting and drawing for as long as she can remember. For many years though, she focused on teaching others. She worked as a private art teacher out of her studio, a GATE (gifted and talented education) teacher in Sacramento City Unified School district, and then as an Art Teacher and Language Arts teacher with middle school students at Leonardo da Vinci School. Many of her students were extraordinary artists. Mary was able to exhibit their art in State offices, local restaurants, the Sacramento Community Center, and at the Crocker Art Gallery in their own group shows. The Sacramento Metropolitan Airport displayed her students art at the airport on a billboard sign along the highway in an advertising campaign. During this time Mary also did commission work as an artist for private clients, as well as interior design work. Now retired from teaching, she has had gallery showings and has earned recognition for her paintings. She works mainly in Acrylic and Oil on Canvas as well as Ceramics. Mary attended San Jose State University, earning a degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in painting. She then went on to earn a lifetime teaching credential in kindergarten through middle school.
